Saturday Night in Chicago

Hi all.

Like Hyla, not too much to report. Shabbat was nice. Friday night we took Amiel to a pre-Shabbat 'model Shabbat' at the shul complete with davening for kids, fake kiddush and real food (pizza). All a little odd, but Amiel seemed to like it. Today we had the Rabbi and his family over for lunch. Ilana made awesome food and Amiel fell in love with their 8-year old daughter. We then managed to get a nap, the price of which was leaving a massive mess in the kitchen and dining room. We eventually made our way to a park and then to our friends Will and Shari for seuda shelishit. Finished watching 'Milk' after Shabbat (okay, but not great, I'd way). Now I'm up late working with swine fu data.

Tomorrow will hopefully feature some good work time for me, and a birthday party for our neighbors' daughter...

Shavua Tov!

  1. Loved reading your post; you had plenty to report.

Glad you got a Shabbos nap. I really don't know how parents do it without one. Every Shabbos afternoon I just need to collapse. (The problem, though, is that we can't then sleep Sat night and that throws the whole week off!)

Sounds so strange that your Rabbi came for lunch. I guess i'm used to the Rabbi Taub model (an eat nowhere policy as to offend no one).

Never had a yen to see 'Milk.' But here's a must-see movie that I saw last week: 'Rachel Getting Married.' You'll be taken by it. I recommend everyone see it.
